How early can it snow near you? Here's the record for each state

The first snow of the season can fall as early as September in the Rockies, Upper Midwest and northern New England, but most wait until October or November. Across the Northeast, Midwest and Northwest, the earliest measurable snow on record has come in October. If you're waiting on snow in the South, you'll wait the longest — and El Niño may have something to say about it this season.
