Science could make Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' ‘song of the summer’

Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" has reached a 21st week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. That puts it within one week of tying the longest run ever atop the chart. That would be "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey. Langley's "Choosin' Texas" first led the charts in February. It could possibly become this year's "song of summer." The reigning "songs of the summer" aren't random. They combine a major key and upbeat lyrics with a catchy melody and a tempo right around 118 beats per minute, which happens to align with the tempo of a human heart at light activity when it’s warm.
